HOW DOES ONLINE SCHOOLING WORK?

Homeschool is a private system of schooling that is separate from a formal school. In our online schooling system, we follow the Cambridge syllabuses for all grades and forms. We have created resources and content for Grade 1-7 and Form 1-6, covering a variety of subjects.

We use Google Classroom, students log in with their Google email address and password and access their work with their unique classroom code/s.

HOW DO I PAY?

Payment is due by the last day of each month, for the next calendar month’s schooling. We use PayPal to send invoice and receive secure payments, locally and internationally. Cash payments are optional. Mandy deals with payment details and reminders.

HOW DO I MEET MY CHILD'S TEACHER?

We are an Online School and do not conduct in-person lessons. Mandy (CEO and Form 1-6) and Kylie (Grade 1-7) are the head teachers for those forms and grades. They engage with students and parents directly through WhatsApp - Kylie's information is provided to students and parents who apply for her grades. Mandy and Kylie are available within the time boundaries given in the classroom guidelines to provide support, feedback and answer questions.

ARE THERE SUPPORT STAFF?

Yes. We have a team of woman around the world who assist the running of the school and ensure students individual lesson plans are updated and work set accordingly. All staff are highly trained and experienced in thier roles.

HOW WILL I KNOW MY CHILD'S PROGRESS?

Both students and parents/sponsors are able to access the system, where assignments and percentages may be viewed at any time. Cambridge O Level students are the exeption as they receive 6-month reports to moinitor their exam preparations. Therefore no reports are given unless requested (at an additional charge) when a student leaves our system.

WHEN IS PAYMENT DUE?

Payment is due on or before the last day of each month, for the next calendar month’s schooling.

Access to the system will be put on hold if by the 5th of the month an amount remains outstanding on your account, or when an assessment is due (which ever comes first). All services will be put on hold for outstanding accounts.

Our teachers and assistants work hard to provide a high level of service to their area of responsibility and expertise. Your dedication in accommodating our payment requirement allows us to keep supporting each student through ongoing encouragement, assessment, and personalized work.

WHAT DO STUDENTS NEED?

Students need a laptop, tablet or phone to access the platform. There is also a stationery list if you desire to use it. A maths book and/or graph book is helpful to all students doing maths.

DO STUDENTS FOLLOW A SCHEDULE?

Students do not receive a daily schedule from us, but each group/age receives specific work and assignments to complete during a specific time period.

Grade 1-3 get a timetable of work to do each week. Grade 4-7 students receive a timetable of subjects and tasks to study or complete each day. Form 1-6 students receive assignments, each allowing 5-10 days to complete. Students receive their next assignment/note task on Monday mornings.

CAN ADULTS USE THIS SYSTEM?

Our system is self-paced, therefore it can be customized to suit each student’s home or work circumstances, regardless of age.

HOW DO STUDENTS PREPARE FOR EXAMS?

We provide access to a course that shows how best to answer exam papers or work through past papers. If and when we are confident that they are ready, we will recommend that they apply to write their next exam.

HOW/WHERE ARE EXAMS WRITTEN?

Students write their exams [IGCSE O and A Levels] through the British Council. We will advise you when they are ready to write their exams.

DO YOU OFFER EXTRA LESSONS?

No, we do not. We cater to our students’ needs through online learning plans, tests, and WhatsApp support. We do offer assessments for Grade 1-7 and Form 1-6. Assessments cost US$20 per subject.

DO YOU OFFER CAREER GUIDANCE?

Yes, we do offer career guidance for ages 14 to 16. This cost US $30 per student. Students complete a questionnaire and receive a detailed letter with feedback. We recommend students do this BEFORE they choose their IGCSE O Level subjects to avoid conflict with other subjects as well as avoid the need to change courses midway through a syllabus.

DO YOU OFFER ENTRANCE TESTS?

Yes, we do. Each child is assessed upon entry and their individualized lesson plan in each subject is created to allow them to move forward successfully in accordance with where they are in their educational journey.
